Richard Carter Leigh PORTSMOUTH - Richard Carter Leigh, 52, of the 3500 block of Commonwealth Place, passed away Aug. 18, 2009, at his residence. Born in Norfolk, Richard was a graduate of Shelton State Technical College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and was employed by Lindel Electric Co. in Chesapeake. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Wilson and his brother, Carl Wilson. He is survived by one son, Joshua Leigh of Chesapeake; three daughters, Stacy Leigh and Amanda Leigh of Chesapeake and Jennifer Steele and son-in-law Timothy Steele of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Morgan Hammond, Michael Leigh, Tyler Steele, Dashaun Hardwick, Ryan Steele and Natasha Leigh; one brother, Robert Wilson; two nieces, Angelica and Jennifer and one nephew, Gerald, all of Jacksonville, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
