Richard Wright Obituary

Richard W. Wright NORFOLK - Richard W. "Rickey" Wright, 45, formerly of Norfolk, died Feb. 19, 2009, in Seattle after a short illness. He was born June 9, 1963, in Norfolk. Rickey was a former music reviewer for The Virginian-Pilot. He moved to Seattle to work as music editor for Amazon.com and was also a freelance writer. His work appeared in The Village Voice, Seattle Weekly, Miami Herald and USA Today and many other publications. Rickey graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in music and journalism. Survivors include his mother, Charlotte French Wright; a brother, Ronald W. Wright; a niece, Elisabeth M. Wright; and an aunt, Deborah Ebel, all of Norfolk; special friends, Jill Passmore and Kate Clark of Seattle. He was predeceased by his father, Fred E. Wright; maternal grandparents, Roy Howard French and Mildred Luffman French; and paternal grandparents, Otis and Fern Wright. A funeral will be held at noon Thursday in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, with viewing held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. You may send condolences to the family at www.mem.com.
