Robert Ewell Obituary
Chesapeake - Robert Luther Ewell, 84, died February 27, 2013. Born in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Rosa Lee Ewell. Mr. Ewell was the owner and operator of Bob Ewell Tire Service for over 50 years. He attended Biltmore Baptist Church, was a member of the Tall Cedars Lodge #143 in Portsmouth and the Bellevue Hunt Club in Surry, and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Nell I. Ewell; two daughters, Hope E. Goodrich and husband Larry, and Faith E. Gutierrez and husband David, all of Chesapeake; a brother, Alton Ewell and wife Edna Mae of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jason Good- rich and wife Sherry, Dale Goodrich, Charity Gutierrez and Benjamin Gutierrez; three great-grandchildren, Adriana Goodrich and twins, Violet and Scarlett Goodrich; many nieces and nephews; friends and the "neighborhood kids"; and longtime, loyal employees, David Newman and Linda Hood.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Mar. 2, at 11 AM in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by the Rev. T.M. Frye. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7-8 PM. Contributions may be made to Biltmore Baptist Church. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com

Dear Faith, Hope, and Mrs. Ewell,
I remember staying with Faith when we were dear friends in high school, and having such a wonderful time in your home. Mr. Ewell was always so kind and fun to be with. He was also a wonderful friend and businessman to my step-father. My love and prayers are with you all. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort and peace be your constant companion. Your beloved awaits you in Glory!

Dear Mrs. Ewell and family,
What can one say at this time of grief but this. Mr. Ewell was a true man of God, an example to others in the community and at all times willing to help those around him. Knowing Mr. Ewell from the time I was a child until adulthood I could walk into his business and he would always know who I was no matter how long it had been since I last saw him. He treated everyone that way. I am better for knowing Mr. Ewell.
