Robert Hatchell Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Sidney Hatchell II, was a beloved father, husband, son, and uncle. Bobby was born in Norfolk, Virginia on September 5, 1972 and went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2023.

Bobby is survived by his sons, Coleton and Dylan Hatchell; his wife of 23 years, Kimberly Hatchell; his parents, Robert and Faye Hatchell; his sister Shelly and her family, Heath, Clayton, Logan, and Sydney Price; his sister Jennifer and her family, Chris and Colby Daniel, his in-laws; Doug and Brenda Paschall, and his sister-in-law; Kelly Paschall.

Bobby graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1990 and continued to obtain a Master's degree in Public Safety and Administration. Bobby then joined the Chesapeake Police Department where he served his community for 20+ years. The majority of Bobby's time with Chesapeake Police was with the Detective Bureau where he became the youngest person to achieve detective in Chesapeake's history.

Bobby's presence in everyone's lives was immeasurable with his contagious laugh and smile, he was always the jokester, and his absence will be deeply mourned. Bobby's memory will forever be engraved within the hearts and souls of his family and friends.

Services to commemorate Bobby's life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2023 at Great Bridge Baptist Church. Immediately followed by a graveside service behind Charity United

Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Oman Funeral Home. Friends and loved ones are all invited to join in celebrating Bobby's life during this time of remembrance.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.

Bobby touched our lives in ways we can only hope he knows. His enduring charm and love for others will live in our hearts. So many fond memories from simpler times include his playfully antics but matched equally with his high values and dedication to serve others. He was a guiding light on earth and now an angel in heaven.

Ramsay and I are heartbroken to hear of this sad news. Bobby grew up across the street from us. I was his tutor when he was in fourth grade and he was the sweetest, kindest, wonderful boy. We are so sorry for your family's pain.
