Robert Swanson Obituary
Virginia Beach - Bob passed away on April 20, 2015 at the age of 72 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1942 in Tennessee and lived in Virginia Beach for the past 35 years. He was very proud of his service in the US Army and was a true patriot. He also loved photography, volleyball and was an extensive traveler. He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Ernestine Swanson. He is survived by his son Robert; daughter Debra; sister Donna; brother Bill (w. Sandy); grandson Matthew; granddaughter Shelby; nieces; nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, May 26 at 7:00pm at the Victorious Living Church, 2180 McComas Way, Virginia Beach.

Some 20 years ago, Bob did me a tremendous kindness that helped me through a time of personal difficulties. I have always remembered that with gratefulness. In those days we did a lot of scuba diving, and Bob's enthusiasm and joy in that were so great that we dubbed him "The Dive God," and that's the way I will always remember him. I regret that in recent years I have not seen more of him, but that in no way diminishes the fact that my life is better by having known him.

I've had the privilege of knowing Bob for many years on multiple levels. He was fun to be around, very witty and humorous. Bob served as photographer for the three churches my wife and I pastored in Virginia Beach. He traveled with us to the Caribbean to celebrate and shoot our 25th Anniversary. Bob was a man with a very compassionate heart that made him part of our family. We will miss him, but never forget him. Bob, we love you - Rest in Peace.
