Shirley Joyner Obituary

Shirley Lee Joyner NORFOLK - Evangelist Shirley Lee Joyner, 69, of the 1000 block of Johnstons Road, died June 15, 2009. Born in Norfolk, she was a member of New Bethel Church of God in Christ where she was a member of the Mother's Board, Evangelist Board, Hospitality Committee, Usher Board, and served as a pastor's aide. She is survived by five daughters, Dianna Stewart, Varry Lindsay, LaCountis Privott, Renee' Joyner, Patricia Joyner; three sons, Ben L. Joyner, Clarence Joyner, Early Joyner; two brothers, William Augson, Clarence Hinton II; 11 grandchildren including special grandchildren, LaMont Lindsay and Debra Stewart; seven great-grandchildren; cousin, Emma Cornelius; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a grandchild, Stephanie Wilson. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Bethel Church of God in Christ with Elder A.D. Lillard presiding. Burial will be held in Rosewood Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. in Chatman/E. A. Hughes Funeral Home. A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the church. She will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing. Shirley wanted everyone to know that she truly loved the Lord. www.eahughes.biz.
