Sybble M. Smithwick

Ponzer, North Carolina - Sybble Marie Smithwick died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, November 16, 2017.

She was born February 27, 1928 in Ponzer, NC, a community of Hyde County, to Rufus Warren and Grace Harris Smithwick. She was a member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ in Ponzer, NC.

She was employed by United States Lines, Inc. for almost thirty-five years in Norfolk, VA retiring in 1986 and returning to her home in Hyde County until 2002. She made her home with her sister Vivian Mariette until May 2006 when she moved to Savannah, GA.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Mt. Olive Church of Christ church cemetery. Mike Caton will officiate.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Mae Smithwick, of New Bern, NC, two nieces: Diana Cerny (Rudy) of Chesapeake, VA. and Sylvia (Wayne) Baker of New Bern, NC - four nephews: Robert Smithwick (Judy) of Ft. Myers, FL, Richard Mariette (Jan) of Savannah, GA, James Smithwick (Patty) of New Bern, NC, and Paul Mariette of Green Valley, AZ.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Mt. Olive Church of Christ 39353 NC 45 North Belhaven NC 27810 or a charity of your choice.
