Terrence Matthews Obituary

Terrence R. Matthews VIRGINIA BEACH - Terrence R. Matthews, 60, passed away Dec. 6, 2009, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 30, 1949, in Richmond, Va., to the late Reid and Eileene Matthews and served in the U.S. Army for eight years, which included a tour in the Vietnam War as part of the 101st Airborne Division. He is survived by his wife, Terry Matthews of Virginia Beach; two children, Christopher Matthews of Virginia Beach, Michelle Kiger and husband Thomas of Suffolk; two granddaughters, Eileene and Mary Kiger of Suffolk; one brother, Dennis Matthews and wife Joanne of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Cindy Davis and husband Bill of Newport News and Robin Coyle and husband David of Fairfax. A memorial service will be held with military honors Friday, Dec. 18, at 3:30 p.m. in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive visitors following the service at his daughter's home, 719 Carolina Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.

Daddy, I love you so much and it all happened so fast. I miss you terribly but also know you are watching over all of us. I miss you, you were and always will be the best friend I have ever had and i know I am the same for you because you told me so just 2 days before you passed. I love you so much. Rest in peace daddy. I love you. Your little girl.
