Thomas Slade Obituary
Thomas N. Slade NORFOLK - Thomas Nelson Slade, 55, passed away Oct. 3, 2008, at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. A native of Norfolk County, Virginia, Mr. Slade was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired after 31 years of service with the Norfolk Fire Department and was a member of Kempsville Church Of Christ. Survivors include his loving wife, Gayla R. Slade; son, David Slade; daughter, Trisha Slade, all of Norfolk; four brothers, Percy Slade of Pinehurst, N.C., George Slade of Norfolk, James Slade of Currituck County, North Carolina, and Kenneth Slade of Norfolk; and a sister, Alice Whitehead of Florida. A celebration of Mr. Slade's life will be held Monday at 6 p.m. in Kempsville Church Of Christ by the Rev. Randy Childress. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Friends may view his permanent memorial at www.mem.com.
