Timothy Lane Obituary

CHESAPEAKE- Timothy D. Lane, 64, peacefully joined his beloved mother, sisters, and other family members in heaven on October 30, 2021. A native of Portsmouth, he was preceded in death by his parents, Durwood Aiken and Lora Jacobs Lane; and two sisters, Jane Slaughter and Alice Underwood. He was one of the first students to enroll in Alliance Christian School and graduated in 1975. He retired as a work packaging control manager at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 38 years of service. Tim attended Court Street Baptist Church and was a former vice president of the Tidewater Camaro Association. He was the founder of the Western Branch Slow Pitch Softball Association, where he held all the various offices during his tenure, won championships in every age group, and started the scholarship fund.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; loving daughters, Stephanie (Brad) and Brittany (Chris); four cherished grandchildren, Emma Grace, Sara Kate, Keegan, Tenley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tim was a jovial man who loved a good joke, classic cars and reminiscing about the past. He always found a way to enjoy spending time with his daughters and later spoiling his grandkids who knew him as "Pops". After a full day of work and coaching his girls' sports teams, he could be found quietly looking out for others. He had a servant's heart and was known for acquiring items to assist those in need.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Friday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of service or donate to the Court Street Baptist Church endowment fund. www.SturtevantFH.com

It's been a few years since Tim's passing. When I think of him if we doing car stuff or having lunch, it brings a smile to my face. Friends like him are few and far apart.

It wasn't until today, Feb 3, 2022 that I found out Tim was no longer on this earth. I was shocked, to say the least. He was just as his obituary read, a man with a huge heart who love his daughters, son in laws, and his grandchildren without any doubt. He will always be remembered as a wonderful person with a huge christian spirit. He loved, and wanted to be loved. Rest In Peace Tim. I am sorry to know you are gone...but never forgotten.

Worked with Timmy for a few years at NNSY. He was a awesome man. I used to stop by his home now and again and talk about cars long ago. His passing is a great loss and took me by surprise. He was a wonderful person who will be missed by all.
