Timothy Lee Plank

Virginia Beach - Timothy Lee Plank, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to heaven September 19, 2014.

Born March 13, 1949, in Sarasota, Florida, Tim was the son of the late John L. and Ida Mae (Borntrager) Plank.

Tim left Florida in 1966 and made Virginia Beach his home. There he met his wife, Kathryn Vellines Plank (Kathy) to whom he was married 42 years. He is also survived by two sons and their families: Martin W. Plank (Marty) and Janet D. Windle who have two children, Emily Kathryn Plank, 6 and Charles Parker Plank, 3. Timothy Aaron Plank (Aaron) and Angela Zook Plank who have two children, Chloe Marie, 7 and Heidi Renee, 5. He is also survived by three sisters, Alma Yoder of Montezuma, Georgia, Elva Miller and Mary Plank, both of Meigs, Georgia; and a brother, David A.D. Plank (Sara Mae) of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Tim has many great and great-great nieces and nephews as well.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, Ralph and Isaac Plank; and his sister, Millie Hostetler.

Tim was a Master plumber but his great love was woodworking. He was truly a Master Craftsman. His pride and joy and greatest achievement was designing and building his dream home in Central Virginia.

Tim loved his God, his family, his church and friends greatly. Whether you knew him as Dad, Grandaddy, G-Daddy, Uncle Tim, Mr. Tim or Mr. Plank, you knew he loved everyone he met and everyone who met him, loved him.

He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 Battlefield Boulevard, South, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church Cemetery, 2041 Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Great Bridge Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Great Bridge Chapel, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.

Many thanks to our friends and family for their love and support during the past year as Tim valiantly fought cancer. The most special thank-you of all goes to the nurses on 2 SOUTH ONCOLOGY at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital for being our "second" family. You are simply the very best. We love you.
