Veryl Hamlett Obituary
Norfolk - Veryl Hamlett went to be with God April 6, 2018.
She was born in Norfolk, VA to Herbert and Hazel Jones who preceded her in death along with her husband of 63 years, Raymond, Sr., AKA Honey, and her daughter, JoAnn Hill. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Valton, husband Cleve, grandson, Johnny and great-grandsons, Kaden and Mason; son, Raymond Jr., wife Beth, grandsons, Raymond III, wife Shannon, great-grandsons, Cooper and Eoghan; Bryon and great-granddaughter, Bailey; son-in-law, David Hill, grandchildren, Bobby, wife Mary, great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Gabrielle, Dawn Harris, husband Tom, and great-grandchildren, Tammy, Shannon and Will. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and friends.
Veryl was a life member of Colonial Heights Church of Christ who played piano and sang in the choir. She worked for Bell Atlantic for 50+ years as an administrator for telephone book distribution. She loved the outdoors in which she was constantly tending to her lawn and many flower gardens. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed attending the 101st Airborne 501 PIRA Reunions around the country until the last one which was in 2016.
The family would like to thank everyone at Sentara Leigh and Lake Taylor Hospitals, along with Ocean View Family Medicine for the care and comfort they provided her over the past few weeks.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Wednesday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Colonial Heights Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com
