W. Selig Obituary

W. George Selig, 84, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, an educator, writer and college leader died Saturday, July 29th, 2023 at his summer home in Megansett, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

George is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judith (Sprague) Selig; daughters Cheryl Ludvik (Jeff), and Cynthia Towne; grandchildren Andrea Hooper (Jesse), Kelly Towne, Ryan & Sarah Ludvik, and his great-grandchildren Ethan and Elise Hooper; brother Bill Goodale of Ketchikan, Alaska, and sisters Marjorie Tedrick and Laura Morton of Washington and Tennessee (respectively.)

He believed that life was all about building relationships with others and he did it brilliantly. While he will be sorely missed, his legacy will live on.

He served Regent University in several capacities including Professor of Special Education, Dean of the School of Education and Counseling and Provost from 1989 - 2020. After 40 years of teaching, he retired as Distinguished Professor of Educational Leadership and was named Professor Emeritus.

A memorial service will also be held at the Galilee Episcopal Church on August 11th at 11:00 am at 3928 Pacific Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA with a light reception to follow.

In place of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Selig Education Fellowship at www.regent.edu/seligfellowship.

Dr. Selig will be missed by the many whose life was touched by his genuine love for them. His legacy is great and his love for the Lord even greater. I will treasure my memories of George. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
