Walter Cook Obituary

Walter S. Cook VIRGINIA BEACH - Walter S. Cook, 86, passed away Dec. 7, 2010, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Dublin, Texas. He was the son of the late Thomas and Lina Cook. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Evelyn Coutlis Cook; sister, Irene Pillow; and deceased brothers, Martin Cook and Billy Cook, all of Texas. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Irene D. Cook and partner Stephanie Cook; two grandchildren, Kamryn Cook and Trey Rothenberg. He is also survived by sisters, Maxine Gilbreath, Pauline Jones, Leota White, Dorothy Gilbreath, Winnie Mortemer; sisters-in-law, Juanita Coutlis of Virginia Beach and Pauline Coutlis of Boston, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was a retired Navy chief petty officer, retired federal service employee and veteran of World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a longstanding member of Bayside Masonic Lodge 218 A.F. and A.M., Virginia Beach, and member of Fleet Reserve Branch 40. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11. He will be sent to Carroll- Thomas Funeral Home, Hyde Park, Mass., for service and burial. Condolences may be expressed to www.altmeyer. com.
