Walter Vigre Obituary
Norfolk - Walter "Walt" Vigre passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette, La. He was 83 years old.
Walter was born November 20, 1930 to his parents Oscar and Theresa Vigre in Brooklyn, New York. Enlisting in the United States Navy in 1947, he spent 20 years in service to his country proudly retiring in 1967. This was the start of a second career in the transportation industry that he completed in 1995. While serving with the navy, he married Eileen Vogel in 1952. Together they raised two sons in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was stationed.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Michael Thomas Vigre and wife Liz; his daughter-in-law, Lisa Kothe Vigre and grandchildren Jenna and Jack; one brother, Raymond Joseph Vigre and his wife Joan of Okatie, South Carolina and their children, Karen, Kathy and Kevin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Raymond; brother, Arthur and sister, Arlene.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive Chapel from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with graveside services to be conducted at the National Cemetery in Hampton, Virginia at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at:
