Wilbert Gore Obituary
Portsmouth - Dr. Wilbert C. Gore, Sr. 93, of Palmer Street passed into eternal rest March 28, 2017 in Maryview Hospital. He was born in Supply, North Carolina and preceded in death by his wife, Vivian L. Gore and daughter, Delores Gore.
He was a Corporal and one of the Original Tuskegee Airmen of the USA Army/Air Corps during World War II. He was a retired aircraft mechanic engineer at the Norfolk Naval Air Station for 37 years. He received a honorary doctorate from Old Dominion University. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory 2 sons, Wilbert C. Gore,Jr., Glene Gore (Carolyn), reared as a son Kenneth Gore, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, a special caregiver, Doreen Murry, and friends.
Funeral services Monday, April 3, 2017 12 Noon St. John Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Earls, Sr. The burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. Visitation will be today from 1-4PM. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham Street, Portsmouth, VA.
