William Filowitz Obituary

William M. Filowitz KITTY HAWK - William M. "Po Po" Filowitz, 66, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at his daughter's home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Edison prior to retiring to the Outer Banks, N.C., in 1998. William proudly worked as a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Patrol officer for 14 years and retired from the New Jersey State Police after 25 years of dedicated service as detective One. He was an avid fisherman and captain. He was a huge New York Giants fan, devoted husband, supportive father and loving Pop Pop. Bill will be missed by his family and friends who loved and respected him. A special thank you for all your prayers and loving support throughout his illness. May he rest in peace. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Donna Marie Lippincott Filowitz; daughter, Carole Lynn Filowitz Lytle, M.D. of Martinsville; three granddaughters, Dana Lynn, Julia Anne and Melanie Elizabeth; and sister, Virginia Zdzchowski of Edison. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 9:15 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, N.J., followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville, N.J. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills, 200 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 would be appreciated.
