William Harrison Obituary
He was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was drafted from Granby High School to serve in World War II and received a World War II Victory Medal. He was part owner of Harrison’s Boathouse and Fishing Pier. He enjoyed keeping up the fleet of charter boats that ran fishing trips daily during the season and had a special relationship with all of the Captains in his fleet.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Harry R. and Lelia W. Harrison; three sons, Thomas G., Brad W., and Steven E. Harrison; and his great-grandson, Derek Cumberledge. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jo Ann Harrison; two sons, David W. Harrison of Florida and Kenneth S. Harrison (wife Cindy) of Hawaii; three daughters, Leslie H. Sedlacek (husband Harvey) of Florida, Cindy H. Jiannine (Husband Phil) of Virginia Beach, and Teresa H. Owen (husband Billy) of Norfolk; his special “son� Jeff Gulley (wife Wendy) of Norfolk; and three loving daughter-in-laws, Francine Dier (husband Ed) of Norfolk, Donna Waller (husband Michael) of South Carolina and Teri Fitzgerald (husband Mike) of Newport News; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Richard P. Harrison and James C. Harrison; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Monday, July 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. The memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans cemetery at 3 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
