A World War II veteran and a civil service employee with 43 years service, finally retiring as Transportation Officer at NAS Oceana.
Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years, Patty, two children and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at a future date.

Billy, Patty, Gary and Craig will always hold a special place in our hearts. We loved visiting them in Ingleside and in Virginia Beach. So many wonderful memories and wish we had spent more time visiting the Ponton family. With much love, Estelle, Danny and Deborah.

What a wonderful friend living next door as I grew up in Norfolk. Billy was a true friend and always enjoyable to be in his company as we shared times together at various beaches on the ocean.

Pat, I'm so sorry to hear about Billy. You were lucky to have him for so long. I miss seeing you and Billy at the Granby lunches. I wish those lunches were still being held. I miss everybody.

Mrs. Ponton, I am saddened to read of Mr. Ponton's passing. I always enjoyed his sense of humor while cleaning his teeth. He was one of the people I always looked forward to seeing. Wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and wishing you some calmness and peace.

I worked in a Public Works at Oceana in the Maintenance Division and crossed paths with Mr. Ponton many many times through the years. He was a very nice man who always had time to say hello. He worked hard to help all of Oceana´s many customers and left it much better than he found it. RIP Mr. Ponton and glad our paths crossed.

Saddened to read of Bill's passing. I will always his kindness to the special needs children he transported to school with bus 92. Although one of the older buses~~none shined better because of Bill. Prayers for your family.
