Stella Tichenor Obituary

Stella Stuart Troutman Tichenor, 95, of Mount Washington, passed away from this life at Flaget Hospital in Bardstown on Friday, April 3, 2015.
A native and lifelong resident of Mount Washington, Stuart was born on May 31, 1919, to Clyde and Isalene Harris Troutman on a farm her parents owned on Salt River.
A graduate of Mount Washington High School in 1937, she then attended the University of Louisville and then started to work at Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Louisville until she married Lloyd Tichenor in 1944.
After 70 years of marriage, Lloyd preceded her in death by three months. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan T. (Mike) Sloane; daughter-in-law, Linda Tichenor; four grandchildren, Charles (Mollie) Tichenor, Michael Stuart (Jessica) Sloane, Virginia (Brandon) Sloane Raeuchle and Rebecca (Brandon) Tichenor Serrano; and one great-grandson, Sullivan Sloane.
Stuart was a strong individual, always supportive of her community and church and always surrounded by those who respected and loved her. As a Christian, one of Stuart's greatest loves was the First Baptist Church of Mount Washington, where she was a lifelong member in serving the Lord. Stuart and Lloyd served as church treasurers for 45 years.
Besides helping Lloyd run the family farm, Stuart worked as a school secretary at Mount Washington schools for 11 years in the 1960s and 1970s. She was a long-time volunteer for the American Red Cross, assisting in blood drives, and was a passionate UK basketball fan.
A celebration of Stuart's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, in Coakley Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Mount Washington with burial to follow in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville. Visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to the First Baptist Church of Mount Washington.

Susan & family, thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time with the passing of your mom ... I am sure that God had a glorious place waiting for her in Heaven though right next to your dad and your brother. And maybe some of the Troutmans are having a little reunion in Heaven as well!! Love to you all ...
