Ben Schermer Obituary
FARMINGTON - Ben M. Schermer, 92, of Farmington passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Farmington Country Manor.
He was born on November 26, 1925, in Pekin, IL, to Ward and Mildred (Michael) Schermer. He married Linda Morris on August 25, 1968, in Farmington. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Dean Schermer of Bloomington, IL, and Scott Allan Schermer of Morongo Valley, CA; two grandchildren, Erica and Michael; one great-grandson, Nathaniel; special niece, Angie (Bill) Preston of East Peoria, IL; and sister-in-law, Evie Schemer.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven Schermer; one daughter, Cathy Jo Schermer; two brothers, John Schermer and Ward (Norma) Schermer; and one sister, Dorothy Schermer.
Ben worked in security at Keystone for 30 years. He was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church, Farmington Moose Lodge 1571 and Farmington American Legion Post 140.
Ben served in the Army during World War II.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Walter Carlson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Farmington United Methodist Church.
