Betty Camm Obituary

PEKIN - Betty Camm, 100, of 2501 Allentown Road, Pekin, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Hallmark House in Pekin.

She was born in Waverly on Sept. 4, 1907, to Roscoe and Mary Mae Lucas Smedley. She married Kenneth Richard Camm in Waverly on April 18, 1929.

He preceded her in death on March 29, 1987; along with her infant son, Charles R. Camm; daughters, Catherine Joan Gaulke and Mary Alice Hill; her four brothers; and one sister.

Betty is survived by her grandchildren, David Hill, Daniel (Christine) Hill and Jonathan (Christie) Hill, all of Pekin, Mary (Kenneth) Canales of Vista, Calif., Mark (Nancy) Gaulke of Norwalk, Conn., Ann (Skip) Rooney of Woodbury, Conn., and Peter (Julia) Gaulke of Portland, Maine; brother, Gene Smedley of Rehobath Beach, Del.; and six great-grandchildren.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin, former Sunday school teacher at her church, a member of Corona Circle and the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with visitation one hour prior to the service at her church. The Rev. Todd Mushaney will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to her church.

Betty was a wonderful lady and it was a pleasure knowing her. She was extremely blessed to have such a loving family who cared so much about her. May you all keep the memories of her in your hearts forever.
