PEKIN - Brian R. DeSollar, 81, of Pekin passed away at 4:57 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
He was born on November 20, 1936, in Takoma Park, Maryland, to Marion W. and Clara Araminta (Wyatt) DeSollar. Brian was a 1955 graduate of Pekin Community High School, where he played football and baseball. While at PCHS, he met his soulmate, Linda Lou Furlong. They were married on June 30, 1957, in Creve Coeur.
Brian attended Bradley University in Peoria and completed the International Accountant Society course.
Brian was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years, retiring in 1986 as a management accountant from the General Office in Peoria. He later worked for Thermetic Glass, Inc. in Toluca as controller and corporate secretary from 1986 to 1997.
Brian and Linda were blessed with two daughters, Renee (Alan) Hufford of Durand and Traci (Mike) Egan of Peoria; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Mark) Uppling of South Elgin, Kaylee (Bernie) Heine of Singapore, Jennifer Hufford of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Matt Egan of Peoria; and two great-grandchildren, Thea Uppling and Eliana Heine.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 2, 2016; his parents; and one brother, Armand DeSollar.
Brian was a Republican Precinct Committeeman for 3 years and was on Congressman Bob Michel's re-election campaign.
Brian was a friend to all who knew him and continued monthly lunch dates with his Caterpillar co-workers. He enjoyed many trips through the years to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada, with Linda, that were some of their favorite times together. He will be missed by his family, but they know he is with Linda again.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
