I was very sorry and saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. I met Charlie many years ago through my uncle, Bill Miller, who was a fellow police officer on the Peoria Police Department. In 1972 Charlie, Greg, and I played on the police department's football team. Those were some fond memories of good times. Charlie was always very easy to be around and consistently very likable. His personality easily conveyed this was a genuinely good guy, a remarkable guy with a remarkable career.

I met Charles a few times while working at the City of Peoria. I knew his sisters Sheryl and Brenda quite well and knew Charles was a wonderful brother and man by their talking about him. I know he will be missed the City and by his family. May God bless and keep his family during this time of sorrow. Sheryl and Brenda, just remember the good times you had with him. A loss of a brother is great. I know, I lost two brothers in the past year and one-half. Remember him in your heart. You and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Jean and family,
I am profoundly saddened to learn of Charlie's passing. I was fortunate enough to work with him at Peoria PD and at Caterpillar Global Security. To say that Charlie was admired and respected as he performed his various law enforcement and private sector security duties would be a gross understatement. Charlie was truly one of the genuine "good guys" and he'll be missed by all whose lives he touched. May he rest is peace and may you be comforted by the many fond memories of your time together. You and the entire Hurt family are in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. May God Bless all...
