David Kimler Obituary
PEORIA - David W. Kimler, age 64, formerly of Peoria, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 7:40 a.m. at the Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL, after a long battle with prostate cancer.
The son of the late Wayne Kimler and Barbara (Rogers) Kimler of Indianapolis, IN, he was born on March 5, 1953, in Peoria, IL. At the time of his death, David was employed at the Lake City Reporter/Community Newspapers, Inc. for over 14 years, and prior, the Marco Island Eagle Newspaper.
David was an artist and was involved with the Art League of North Florida and had donated paintings to the Gateway Gallery of Lake City. He was always active in painting, sports, family, cooking and his dog, Gus.
David is survived by his mother, Barbara Kimler of Indianapolis, IN; son, Jeffrey (Casey) Kimler and grandchildren, Addison and Andrew, of Chillicothe, IL; daughter, Samantha Kimler of Naples, FL; sister, Cheryl (Jim Brown) Kimler of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Theresa Kimler of Naples, FL; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 11 a.m. on April 1, 2017, at the United Methodist Church of Bushnell, 390 Crafford St., Bushnell, IL. Jim Brown (CSM Ret) will officiate, with messages from Geo. Pensinger and Cheryl Kimler. Friends may visit the family at church from 10 a.m. to the time of service.
Memorials in the name of David may be offered to the Art League of North Florida.
