Denise Tipton Obituary
PEORIA - Denise Tipton, 48, of Peoria, Ill., passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at OSF Saint Frances Medical Center.
She was born July 10, 1961, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., to John and Geraldine (Shone) Calabrese. She married Henry Tipton on March 13, 1980, in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband, Henry "Hank" of Peoria; her mother, Geraldine of Washington; two daughters, Angela of Missouri and Stephanie of Peoria; one son, Henry Tipton Jr. of Peoria; two sisters, Lisa Calabrese of Washington and Susan Calabrese of Bayshore, N.Y.; and one brother, John Calabrese III of Mastic Beach, N.Y. She also is survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John.
Denise grew up in Long Island, N.Y., before her parents moved their family to Peoria. She went to school at Woodruff High School.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Grace Baptist Church, 405 Richard Pryor Ave., Peoria.
Memorials may be made at CEFCU Bank in the name of Denise Tipton.
A special thanks to the Rev. Jeffrey Ivory and the Rev. Jimmie Williams and family.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.

I knew you so long ago Denise,back in the Arlie Ray days when our lives were so out of control and then we got our lives together and lost touch and I didn't see you again until you were on the front page of the Journal Star.I know God is holding you in His arms now and you are at peace.I pray that Hank and your family may be comforted by that. You were loved by so many and will be missed. My prayers will be that your family will be surrounded by angels during this tragic time.

I know this is a very trying time for you all and I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I only knew Denise a short time, but everytime I saw her, she wore a great big smile and was very sweet. I miss you so much I don't know what I am going to do with out you. I know everyone said I had it together but you are my older sister and you really had together you are my best friend you remember when you always protected me. Well I do. Hey Denise(Hank and kids too), I just want to let all of you know how very sad I am about what happened.Even though we have went our seperate ways over the years, I have alot of great memories of some of our good old times that I will keep with me forever.I know there were some rocky times for you guys, but you Denise, Hank and the kids should be so proud of yourselves that you came out the other side and have lived such a good life with the kids and grandkids. Hank said the truth when he said you are such a strong woman. Like every one else,I remember your cooking. I would come over to your house all those years ago and you would always be cooking. Even in Florida when we all lived together you were the cook. Always making desserts,too. Denise, you and I had some crazy nights out together and I cherish those memories.Anyway, like I said me and alot of other people are so sad you aren't on this earth anymore, but I can imagine you up there with your Dad playing cards or Bingo!Also, thank you so much for dealing with my kids. Denise it was a pleasure knowing you for the time that God gave us. You will be missed by everyone dearly and it is a hard one to swallow. You always had some food for me in the house if I needed it or something for me to drink. We shared many days and nights playing cards and joking about something funny that happened. You are a special woman and will never be forgotten. I will make sure that Hank is ok even though I know his heart is crushed. We all have to leave here one day so when I get there have a deck of cards for me. Love ya always
