Dora Kleiner Obituary

PEORIA - Dora Kleiner of St. Louis Park, Minn., formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010.

She was born on May 10, 1922, in Sosnowiec, Poland, the youngest of Morris and Brandel Greenblatt's five children.

She survived the Sosnoweic Ghetto and was in the Arnau and Benstow slave labor camps from 1941 to 1945 now in the Czech Republic. She came to the United States in 1949 and settled in Peoria, Ill., where she lived for 52 years with her husband, Joseph, until moving to St. Louis Park, Minn., in 2001.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Morris and Sally Kleiner of Edina, Minn.; grandchildren, Bari (Eytan) Elias of Netanya, Israel, Samuel (Yifat) Kleiner of Ithaca, N.Y., and Ellen (Ben) Weinstein of Seattle, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Yoav, Odeya and Asaf Elias and Hila Kleiner.

Memorial contributions can be made to the U.S. Holocaust Museum (www.ushmm.org), Yad Vashem (www.yadvashem.org/donation) or Congregation Agudas Achim, 5614 N. University St. Peoria, Ill.

Services will be held Tuesday in Minnesota.
