Elizabeth Ringwald Obituary

MAPLETON - Elizabeth Alma Ringwald, 94, of 6610 S. Cameron Lane passed away at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Pekin Hospital.

Born Oct. 17, 1914, in a log cabin in rural Mapleton to John and Elsie (Gerdes) Rothlisberger, she married Maurice Ringwald on March 2, 1935, in Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 25, 1985, and her parents.

Surviving are two sons, John "Jack" (Susan) Ringwald of Peoria and Richard "Dick" (Darlene) Ringwald of Mapleton; four grandchildren, Jeffery (Jennifer) Ringwald, Scott Ringwald, Jennifer (Brian) Anton and Amy (Doug) Hand; and nine great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, she enjoyed baking pies and making homemade noodles.

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.

Elizabeth was a member of the Neighborhood Birthday Club for more than 80 years.

She was a 1931 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Dwight Borden will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
