Freddie Snider Obituary

SOUTH PEKIN - Freddie Burrell Snider, 85, of South Pekin passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Pekin Hospital.

He was born in West Frankfort, Ill., to Harmon and Mildred Vancil Snider on Jan. 27, 1926.

He married Phyllis VanBuren, who preceded him in death, along with his parents; brothers, Ed, Bill, Ted and Ray Snider; daughter, Kathy Jo Snider; and stepson, Tony Cross.

Freddie then married Phyllis Triplett Cross in Dexter, Mo., on March 9, 1985.

She survives along with children, Greg Snider, Teri Snider and Beth Snider, all of South Pekin, Connie Hency of Jackson, Mo., and Cheryl Edwards of Tremont; stepchildren, Suenell Watkins of Sikeston, Mo., Kandy Cross of Branson, Mo., and Larry Cross of Springhill, Fla.; sister, Doris Wullbrandt of Tallahassee, Fla.; and his nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and the Army National Guard from 1949 to 1951.

He was an operator at Commonwealth Edison.

Cremation has been accorded, and no services will be held. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co., Pekin/Peoria, is assisting the family with arrangements.
