NORTH PEKIN - Gary R. Stahl, 75, of North Pekin, formerly of Bartonville, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Peoria.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1937, to Otto J. and Lydia Frances Barth Stahl. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynne, and grandson, Colin Stahl; siblings, Dorothy (Verlus) Fowler, Richard Stahl, John Stahl, Mike Stahl, Judy Wright, Frances Stahl and Del Rickena; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves Shawn Potter, who was like a son, and Brandon, who was like his grandson.
Gary grew up in Bartonville. He graduated from Oak Grove Grade School and Limestone Community High School, with high honors. He attended Bradley University.
He loved all sports, especially golf, baseball, football, bowling, BMX, St. Louis Cardinals, and "Good Music." His 1956 Limestone baseball team was inducted into the school's athletic Hall of Fame. He loved to cook for all his friends.
Gary owned and operated Stahl Brothers Blacktop with his brother, John.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Living Hope Community Church on Lancaster Road in Bartonville. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 1 p.m.

My daughter called me in Florida this morning to tell me that Gary had passed. I am so sorry for the family. I wish I could be there on Saturday for the memorial.
