Gilbert Krock Obituary

CANTON - Gilbert L. Krock, 83, of Canton died at 12:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born on May 4, 1932, in Canton to James R. "Bud" and Winifred H. (Williamson) Krock. He married Margaret E. Phillips in Canton on Dec. 19, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2007.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and son, Jonathan.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Jeremy "Jamie" (Jeanette) Krock of Peoria and Dr. Kenneth (Joann) Krock of Canton; six grandchildren, Mitchell, Spencer, Timothy, Abigail, Elizabeth and Benjamin; and one brother, Curtis (Leta) Krock of Canton.

A grateful family would also like to acknowledge his caregiver, Becky Black. Her care enabled him to remain in his home during his later years.

Gilbert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton and volunteered in their food pantry program. He was a member of Morning Star Lodge 734 AF&AM and was active in the Graham Hospital Service League. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Margaret.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a control tower operator in Korea and Japan during the Korean War. He participated in the 2014 Greater Peoria Area Honor Flight with his sons.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial with military honors will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Canton or the Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation.

Don and I send our sympathies to the Krock family. Ken, I only knew your father from visiting with your Mother, but he was always a very gracious gentleman. We wish you peace in a difficult time.
