PEORIA - Toby Salter, 63, of Bremerton, Wash., formerly of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in Washington.
He was born in Peoria, Ill., to Herbert Seaman Salter and Lois Ann (Schupp) Salter.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and worked in PSNS in Shop 38, where he retired after 20 years.
Survivors include sister, Barbara Adams of Illinois; wife, Georgie Hayes of Bremerton, Wash.; sons, Ronald Knowlton of Colorado, Keith Knowlton of Bremerton, Wash., Terry Knowlton of Port Orchard, Wash., Herbert Salter III of Bremerton, Wash.; daughters, Kathy Titsworth of Bremerton, Wash., Ann Marie Newell of Port Orchard, Wash.; brother-in-law, Jere Geerken; and nieces. He has 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, which he enjoyed spending time with all of them.
He also enjoyed camping and bingo.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, May 31, Monday, June 2, and from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, June 3, all at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
