MORTON - Jennifer L. "Jenni" (Meiner) Emerson, 51, of Morton died at 9:37 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at her home.
Jenni was born July 10, 1962, in Peoria to George H. and Marilyn K. (Bailey) Meiner. She married James Emerson on Oct. 30, 1993.
She leaves behind her husband, son, James "JD" and daughter, Jill, all of Willowbrook, Ill.; her parents of Morton; and her brothers and sisters, George "Chip" (Patty) Meiner of Morton, Becki (Frank) Wilson of Creve Coeur, Missy (Greg) Kostner of Burr Ridge, Ill., and Doug (Amy) Meiner of Washington. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews, Bobbi Jo (Tom), Brooklyn and Brock Filyaw; Charli (Levi) and Harper Lawrence; Jodi, Mollie and Ruby Meiner; Samantha (Fred), Deeken, Dayhahna and December Krus; Erin and Eva Kostner; Alex Kostner; Tyler Meiner and Bailey Meiner.
Jenni was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Daisy Meiner and Clifford and Margery Bailey.
Jenni graduated from Morton High School in 1980, then Bradley University in 1985, cum laude, with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.
She enjoyed a long career at Goss International and recently was employed through URS Corp. in Peoria, as a facilities engineer at Caterpillar Inc.
All her life Jenni loved to sew fantastic Halloween costumes for her children and niece and knit socks for herself, mother and sisters. She collected gnomes, loved baking, gardening and had a penchant for juicy tomato sandwiches with a lot of mayonnaise.
Cremation has been accorded. Her family and friends will be celebrating her life from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 616 W. David St., Morton. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jennifer Emerson Children's Benefit Fund established at Morton Community Bank.
