TREMONT - Jim Hulett, 69, of Tremont passed away at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his home after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 17, 1943, in Monmouth, Ill., to Vern and Ruth Peters Hulett. He first married Deanna Hornbaker on June 9, 1963, and she preceded him in death. He later married Judy Waldbeesser on Aug. 29, 1992, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Patricia) Hulett and Philip (Emily) Hulett, both of Pekin; three daughters, Dedee Hartl of Tremont, Peggy (Joseph) Rawe of Roodhouse and Barb (John) Walker of Mackinaw; two stepsons, Anthony Piro of South Pekin and Richard Piro of Pekin; two stepdaughters, Kathy (Terry) Davis of Manito and Debbie (Doug) Shallenberger of Pekin; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chester Hulett of Bartonville, Joel (Loretta) Hulett and Andrew Hulett, both of Quincy; and three sisters, Julia Whittaker of Sunnyland, Mary Jane Hale of Washington and Dora Peto of Quincy.
He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Deane Hulett; four brothers; and one sister.
Jim worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Mapleton in the maintenance department, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin, where he taught Sunday school, participated in the music ministry and served in many other capacities.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and talking to people about the Lord.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin. His son, Pastor Philip Hulett, and Pastor Steve Rowell will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service, both at the church. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Howe Cemetery in Timewell, Ill. Davis Mortuary in Tremont is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to his church or Hospice Campassus.

I have only Love for this man.He lead me too the Lord..At Bethel..In the basement.
I know he will be missed very much..1 yr he even took me fishin.at Rice lake..
I know he is now singing Those Goden Bells..With the Saints..I can only say Thank you...For all that this Lovin did.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim for a number of years at the Mapleton Plant. I could not ask for a nicer gentleman. I learned a lot while working with him in the core room. He will be missed. My prayers for him and his family.
