WYOMING - John L. Carroll Jr., 74, of Wyoming died at 6:53 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, surrounded by his family at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
John was born July 22, 1935, in Kewanee the son of John and Mary Routt Carroll. He married Barbara Clarke on Jan. 23, 1965.
Barbara survives along with three children, Suzanne (Matt) Wilson of Wyoming, John Carroll of Wyoming and Bridget (Michael) Rickard of Hanna City; daughter-in-law, Jackie Carroll; eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Todd, Megan, Ethan, Cody, John Logan, Madelynn and Colby; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rena McGinn of Chillicothe.
His parents preceded him in death.
John was a 1955 graduate of Wyoming High School.
He worked at Aldrich Boiler Company in Wyoming for 48 years, retiring in 2004.
He was an avid archer and outdoorsman.
John was a lifelong member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Wyoming, where a funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday, April 17, 2010. Father Vien Van Do will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Dominic's Cemetery in Wyoming.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wyoming Ambulance Service or St. Dominic Catholic Church in Wyoming.
Wyoming Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
