CHILLICOTHE - Joseph Leo Grube, 84, of Chillicothe, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
He was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Peoria, Ill., to Christian A. and Susanna Roth Grube. He married Jackie Davis on Dec. 26, 1960, in Peoria, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Jackie; three sons, Stephen Grube of Lucena, Brazil, James (Sue) Grube of Peoria and Dr. Jerry (Donna) Carter of Dunlap; three daughters, Catherine (George) Gipp of Jacksonville, Fla., Sandra (Marlin) Holroyd of Montague, Mich., and Lynn Carter of Chillicothe; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsman Club and the Pearce Health Community Center.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He worked as a pressman for Logan Printing Co. in Peoria.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at Valley Funeral & Cremation Service, 201 N. MacArthur Hwy. in Peoria. Cremation has been accorded and his cremated remains will be interred in Springdale Cemetery at a later date. Paul E. Shields, funeral director through Valley Funeral & Cremation Services, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Chillicothe Rescue 33, Heartcare Midwest or donor's choice.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss! You and Joe have always been so special to all of my family! He will be greatly missed. The day you moved out of the house next door was a very sad day for us but does not compare to this. My deepest sympathies to you and your family!
