MORTON - Kenneth E. Glenzinski, 71, of Morton passed away at 11:24 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Winona, Minn., to Eugene and Barbara (Kertzman) Glenzinski. He married Dingena P.M. Ooyen on May 13, 1967, in Kankakee, Ill. She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1997. He then later married Lori Smith on Aug. 7, 1998, in Morton.
Surviving are his wife, Lori Glenzinski of Morton; two sons, Derek (Shelley) Glenzinski of Downers Grove, Ill., and Deken (Tina) Glenzinski of Princeville, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Ashleigh Trine of East Peoria; three grandchildren, Isaac, Noah and Evan Glenzinski; four stepgrandchildren, Ashton, Aydin, Jacob and Bella; five brothers, John (JoAnn) Glenzinski of Santa Fe, N.M., Denny (Marian) Glenzinski of Bradley, Ill., Don (Sue) Glenzinski of Kankakee, Ill., Bob (Jamie) of East Peoria and Kevin (Angela) Shea of Kankakee, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law, Tam Glenzinski of Wheaton, Ill., and Patty Glenzinski of Kankakee, Ill.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Lenny Glenzinski.
Kenneth served with the U.S. Army and later with the Illinois National Guard, where he was called to duty during the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.
He was a long time sales manager for Interstate Brands Corp. and later with Zee Medical. Kenneth and Dinie owned and operated the Convenient Food Mart in East Peoria for many years.
He was a member and past commander of the Morton American Legion Post 318.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Cremation will be accorded following visitation. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Hirstein Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to OSF Healthcare Foundation in Ken Glenzinski's name.
