A short (blurb) can't do it. Our Chamberlain Family lived in the Peoria IL area from 1966-1972.The family lived in Chillicothe IL. Cloverdale subdivision on David Ave 1969-1972. OUR DAILY CREW KEVIN PRUITT, Tim Lipsey, Ron Lipsey, baby (Mike?) Lipsey for a short time! if I remember his name.. Joe Bailey, Ron Bly, Harold and Jerry Hartley and sometimes David Beasely, (Us)Lee Ann (Chamberlain) Gustafson, Gene Chamberlain, Jeff Chamberlain. WE played Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Whiffle-ball, Football in our far too large back yard on David ave and out front in the (circle) drive. We all rode bikes with our dog (Snoopy) racing alongside as always and went to the River to skip rocks, watched fireworks, softball and more at Shore Acres together. There are many stories I CAN'T tell what we all did together. BUT one time we all decided skipping school at Pearce GS was a good idea. Got caught. Kevin hid under Ron Bly's Parent's bed as the Police called us out of his house on the squad PA system. We were ALL (presented) to our Parents via Squad car. Kevin and I (Jeff Chamberlain) were punished and also had to serve a SATURDAY at Pearce GS arranging the Teacher's books in a little know Library/big closet. What drudgery! That was just one of many, many adventures and fun we all went through together with Kevin and crew In late August 1972, Our final days in Chilli I was frustrated and depressed a bit on leaving (moving) again as we had many times. Kevin and I went down to the River for one more visit to the Ben Franklin for Candy, past the TOWN theater and to throw rocks one more time into the river. We discussed the future, what we wanted to do or buy (AMC Gremlins) Mini-bikes, etc. There was time for one more visit to the Snow-Cone (Girls) Garage by Richard REED's and Hartley's house like all neighborhood kids did in the hot summers. There was still one more (crank) phone call to be made from Kevin Pruitt's garage telephone *since his Dad worked for BELL Telephone then. Even time for Kevin's dog Chihuahua *Chico Hernandez? Jr. to growl and snip at us fiercely for getting too close! We remember our time and fun of Chillicothe and Lacon and Peoria IL areas to this day. I even went there in 2016 to gather photos and stories at Chilli's Library and Peoria's Lib from the Pearce Grade School 1972 Boys State Basketball Championship where I was part of that team. I put it all on Flickr photo website under the search tag "Chillicothe Illinois" Plenty of old faces there in album to see too. We all got into trouble with Kevin, but once we all were disciplined we GOT IT. We also had a lot of fun too. BUT We were all really (good kids) Kevin was one of the Best friends back then. We went everywhere together. Condolences to his entire family. Even as this is new news to me in 2023 from 2014? we are saddened but know we'll all see each other again! ---- Jeff Chamberlain. Photo added from Chillicothe IL Flickr album. THIS is how I remember Chillicothe IL. Was that Kevin Pruitt on the BUS waving? in the IVC window pane? wasn't sure if he was there that night? I know almost all of Pearce Grade School and most of Chillicothe was down in Normal IL at STATE than night to celebrate our victory.

Rest in Peace my old friend. We traveled different paths after school and lost touch but I often thought of our days in Cloverdale and Lake of the Woods. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Pruitt family.
