PEORIA - Larry Muzzy, 69, formerly of Peoria, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Cartwright Hospice in Saginaw, Mich., as his family rejoice with him.
Larry was born Feb. 2, 1945, in Peoria, Ill., to Harold and Elizabeth Gerber Muzzy, attending schools there and graduating from Limestone High School in 1963 and Bradley University with a major in accounting in 1967. He married Karen Brown Muzzy in August of 1966 and, after graduation, went into the Army on their first anniversary, serving two years during the Vietnam era.
Larry and Karen are the parents of two wonderful sons, Ladd (Jill) Muzzy of Grand Rapids and Dayn (Jennifer) Muzzy of Midland. Family was always Larry's top priority and he lovingly, capably and efficiently supported them throughout his career at Price Waterhouse, Oscar Mayer & Co. and Dow Corning. He was a fabulous father on every level, from cheering the boys on in soccer or basketball to going downhill skiing, fishing and golfing together and always being a solid supporter in every life event each of them had. Besides "Dad," Larry's favorite title was "Papa" to Sarah, Lauren, Carter, Mason, Libby and Samantha. Snuggling, creating nonsense and especially bedtime storytelling were some of his many points of excellence.
Larry was a warm, trustworthy friend, full of integrity, and his life was filled with his boys, dogs, sports, golf, hunting, fishing, taking cruises and doughnuts.
He was a member of Eagle Ridge Church of God.
A celebration of life for Larry will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Eagle Ridge Church of God on Waldo Avenue in Midland, with visitation at 10 a.m.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Eagle Ridge Church of God, 2808 Waldo Ave., Midland, MI 48642; the Chippewa Nature Center, 400 S. Badour, Midland, MI 48640, where he spent fun times with his grandchildren; or the donor's favorite charity.

Karen, Beth and Ken are here tonight and just told us of Larry's homegoing. What a wonderful husband and father! So thankful that he is beginning Chapter One of the Great story, in which every chapter is better than the one before, and all in Christ's presence! You have our warmest sympathies, dear Karen.

Mrs. Muzzy, Ladd, Dayn and family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
As one of Mrs. Muzzy's piano students, I didn't have a lot of interaction with Mr. Muzzy, except at recitals or if he came home during my lesson. He was always very polite and friendly.
I hope today was a great way of celebrating his life and remembering together as a family.
I'm sending a hug, Mrs. Muzzy, through my mom today :-)

Karen, we send our condolences to you and your family in the loss of your dear Larry. You, Larry, and family were such great neighbors when we all used to live in Whitewood subdivision until recently. Larry was such a fabulous man, and far too young to have been called home so early. Our prayers are with you and the extended family.
