Mark Rogers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMurrough Funeral Chapel - Libertyville on Mar. 18, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Mark Rogers on March 16, 2026. Mark was born on November 15, 1980, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he lived until the age of five, before moving with his family to Florida, England, and later Libertyville, Illinois. These early experiences helped shape his resilient spirit and the warm, friendly nature that became hallmarks of his life.

Mark graduated from Libertyville High School in 1999, where he excelled both academically and as a lacrosse player. He went on to attend Bradley University, where he earned a degree in criminal justice and sociology.

Mark met the love of his life, Laura, on their very first weekend at Bradley. Together, they built a beautiful life and just celebrated 19 years of marriage this past week, spending 10 of those years in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Their bond was truly special, grounded in deep love, partnership, and shared adventure. Laura and her family introduced Mark to running, and he quickly embraced it, completing countless marathons and often winning his age bracket. He also became an avid CrossFit enthusiast.

Mark spent most of his career with Progressive Insurance, where he was known for his excellence and integrity. Yet, as accomplished as he was, it was in life's simple joys where he found his greatest happiness. Mark was a devoted dog lover, and he and Laura treasured long weekends at the beaches of Michigan, watching their beloved Jax run freely. He had an adventurous spirit, and together they challenged themselves with long hikes through national parks. Mark was also a dedicated football fan, especially when cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.

Mark was blessed with many lifelong friendships, from elementary school through college, and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with friends and family. He loved the many, many family fantasy pools, from fantasy golf, football to basketball, and especially looked forward to March Madness each year. These traditions often led to memorable trips to Las Vegas, where gambling, laughter, and time together were always at the center. Whether on the golf course, managing a fantasy team, or relaxing with a craft beer, Mark cherished every moment.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Laura; his cherished parents, Dee and Derek; his younger brothers, Peter (Lauren) and Nicholas; and his grandmother, Molly. He was a beloved son-in-law to Les Caligiuri and shared a special bond with his sisters-in-law, Jennifer (Aaron) Groves and Kristy (David Pilla) Caligiuri. He was a fun and loving uncle to Mattix and Molly Groves, Danny and Lily Pilla, and Quinn and Davis Rogers. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gerry Lies, and his mother-in-law, Penny Caligiuri.

Mark will be remembered for his quiet, gentle nature, his wicked sense of humor, his fierce loyalty, and above all, his deep love for his family.

Mark, you will be forever loved and never forgotten.

Visitation for Mark will be from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday March 22nd at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday March 23rd with interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Orphans of the Storm https://orphansofthestorm.org/ would be greatly appreciated. Funeral info (847) 362-2626
