Joseph J. Tsiakals of
Parker, CO passed away Monday afternoon, March 2, 2026 at age 79. He was born in
Peoria, IL to Sam and Virginia Tsiakals, where he later met and married his wife Yvonne Lorentz Tsiakals. For over 52 years, they've made a home together in Rochester NY, suburban Chicago IL, Thousand Oaks CA, Half Moon Bay CA, and Parker CO.
Joseph is survived by his wife, his two children and six grandchildren. Their families, Nicholas and Deirdre Tsiakals and children Aidan, Brynn, and Sadie; and Karen and Mark Hickey and children Penelope, Éamon, and Blaise. He is also survived by extended family including many nieces and nephews. Joseph is preceded in death by his father and mother, and his brother Theodore Tsiakals.
Having served in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam combat, and the Army Reserves, he was a dedicated patriot, often heard chanting US national marches or anthems, kept a flag pole for many years, and a small liberty bell.
He earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Industrial Engineering from Bradley University, making his career in quality engineering, primarily in medical device and pharmaceutical industries. He particularly focused on improving FDA and International Standards, providing outlines for international quality standards in many fields.
Many knew of his attention to detail with his creative pursuits of photography and woodworking, as well as his love of learning and the great outdoors. Camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, and biking were only a few of the past times he enjoyed with friends and family, discovering the beauty of nature and adventure. He will be remembered for his humorous wit and love of story-telling, his passion for travel and museums, history and truth, as well as his friendly social, kind, and generous nature. For a man blessed with deep intellect, he never sought to make others feel inferior, but rather was eager to learn from every experience, or person, and quick to encourage others in the goodness of Christian teaching.
Joseph was active for many years in the Boy Scouts, achieving Eagle Scout in his youth, and serving in turn as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, and then in Council leadership positions, often quoting the "Scout's Law", trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
In
Parker, CO, Joseph was a member of Joy Lutheran Church, serving in elected and volunteer leadership positions, active attendee of the Men's Prayer Breakfast, and Men's Bible Study, helping with the homeless ministry and church functions. For years he has taken great comfort in the grace of God, Who gives us forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation in Jesus' name.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he will be sorely missed, though we look forward to our reunion with him in the Heaven of the Resurrection.
