Peoria HEIGHTS - Lois E. Shernak, age 89, of Peoria Heights, Ill., passed away on March 23, 2008, at 1:31 a.m.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1918, in Peoria, Ill., to James and Rose (Childers) Stapelton. She married Daniel F. Shernak on Nov. 25, 1937. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1972.
She also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Kent Kunkel and Ronnie Dean Shernak; four sisters; and one brother.
Lois is survived by two sons, Dan of Peoria and Ronald (Barbara) of Houston, Texas; five grandsons, Greg, Mike, Jeff, Brian and Anthony Shernak; and five granddaughters, Kathy Sciple, Lisa Moore, Susan Taylor, Michelle Freeman and Jill Rose. She also is survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
Lois worked for Foster & Gallagher Co. as a supervisor for many years.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 979, VFW Post No. 8662 and the Moose Lodge 238.
She was also a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Phil Lund will officiate. The visitation will be an hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Peoria, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church.
