Although I haven't seen Mark in years, I will always treasure so many memories of great times we had together in our 20's. I have known Mark since childhood, but we really didn't become good friends until after college. He is one of those incredible people who was always there when you needed him, with a big smile and willing to help in any way. I was sharing with my husband last night some of the escapades Mark and I had in our youth and we both laughed until we cried. A bright light has gone out in the world with Mark's passing. He was one-of-a-kind and will truly be missed. Rest peacefully, Mark. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers...

I never knew Doc to greet people he knew without an engaging grin and tons of warmth. As one of his patrons, we got to know one another when he owned Doc's Mt. Hawley Inn. And although in years since, we ran into one another every blue moon, I always felt glad to have had a brief occasion to "catch up". He was a sweetheart of a guy, and his family has my deepest sympathy. Terry Reeder

On behalf of the Bergan High School class of 1972, we send our deepest condolences to all of Mark “Doc's” family and friends, including, after all these 40 years since graduating, his fellow classmates. He was an important member of our class—truly cherished for being kind to all, and, of course, for freely sharing his characteristic wit, humor and wise cracking ways. What a fun and good guy. Rest in peace, Mark “Doc”. We will always remember you with a smile, and honor your memory until we reunite again. We were blessed to know you as our classmate--and friend. Godspeed.
