NANCY LANCOUR Obituary

NANCY JEAN (BORA) LANCOUR - COLCHESTER - Nancy Jean (Bora) Lancour, 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Fletcher Allen Health Care surrounded by those whom she cared most about, her loving family. Nancy was born in Burlington on April 13, 1946, to the late Victor Bernard Bora and Yvonne Rose (Dumas) Bora. Nancy was raised in the Old North End of Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1965. Nancy was an exceptional woman whose outstanding love of family and friends along with her strong faith in God and St. Jude, gave her the strength to face her illness with great courage and dignity. Nancy had many interests in life. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling to Yankee Candle and the casinos. The highlight of her bowling career was March 15, 1998, when she was the Senior Pro-Am Champion at the then Yankee Lanes, where she bowled with the Senior Professional Bowling Association members. She gave her time to the community as an active member on the Board of Directors of the Burlington International Games throughout the duration of the Games and formed many strong bonds with her counterparts in Burlington, Ont. She served in many positions on the Board including Vice Chairman and perhaps the most difficult - Director of Housing. At various times in her life she was the owner/ operator of Lovely's Market in the Old North End, ran her own shop where the taught macramé, had her own day care center, working in the cafeterias at Fanny Allen Hospital and most recently, as a cashier in the Essex school system. Nancy was also a very active Avon Representative for many years, where she earned numerous recognition's in the President's Club. Nancy's greatest love in life, however, was her undying love of family and friends. Her outgoing personality and her compassion for lending a hand to those in need helped her touch the hearts of all she came in contact with. She was an outstanding lady and will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband, Patrick Lancour of Colchester, whom she married on March 28, 1992. She is also survived by her children, Donna and husband, Brian Bevins, John Lovely and companion, Chrystal Bolm, Patrick Lancour Jr. and wife, Lynn, and Marilee Curran; grandchildren, Corey Bevins, Kyle Bevins, Taylor Lovely, Ava Lovely, Justin Lancour, Jenna Lancour, Brenden Curran and Alex Curran; great-granddaughter, Abigail Bevins; brothers, Victor Bora of Florida, David Bora and wife, Diane, of Florida; sisters, Barbara Francis of Florida, Mary Leduc and husband, Maurice, of South Burlington; special people in her life, Pamela Putzier, Shane Lovely and Colby Nadeau. She also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, and an outstanding multitude of friends, among them her special nieces, Jean Corliss and Jody Clarke; great-nieces, Jamie and Stacey Clarke, who helped so much with her care and who were always there for her throughout Nancy's illness. She will also be sorely missed by her very special friends and constant companions, Charlie, Abbey, Buffy and Sweetpea. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Richard Bora; and a very special person in her life, Bradley Nadeau. Nancy's family would like to thank Drs. Grunberg, Roland, Tranmer, their nurses and staffs for the excellent treatment, care and compassion they provided Nancy throughout the long duration of her illness. Special thanks also are necessary to the nurses and staff of Shepardson 4 and Starr Farm Nursing Home, to whom Nancy formed a very special bond during her stays at those locations. Visiting hours will be at the Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Ave, Burlington on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at St. Joseph's Co-Cathedral, Allen Street, Burlington, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Annex, Pomeroy St., Burlington. Those who wish may make contributions in Nancy's memory to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I miss hearing your laugh and seeing your smile. You must have a big smile watching your great grandchildren from above. You and Caleb would sure laugh a lot, you would love his sense of humor.

I just found out that Nancy passed away in February. I am so sorry for your loss. Nancy was a great friend during our times in B.I.G. and we lost touch. She and I had many fun times both here and in Ontario.

To my dear wife,

Twenty one years ago today the snow was falling heavily outside.

Inside two people were sharing these vows. "For better, for worse. For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love, honor and cherish."

Words to carry us through our all too short time together.

With all my love on this, our anniversary.....................Pat

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

When we close our eyes, we can see you,
When we whisper your name, we can hear you, and
When we reach with our hearts, we can touch you. (unknown)

Pat & Family: I was saddened to read of Nancy's passing.Although we kept in contact through Christmas cards, I had no idea that she wasn't well.
Nancy was a backbone of the Burlington International Games for many years. She organized and ran the participants raffle for years, raising thousands of dollars.Serving as Housing Chairman, along with you, was one of the most important and difficult jobs that any committee had. She volunteered many hours to coordinate registrations and run the BIG office. She was steadfast in her dedication to the Games through the really great days and the not so great days. She will always remain in my memories as I think back to those many years working on the Games
You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. She was a great lady and friend.
