He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; children Jackson, David and James; grandfather Harvey Brady; parents Donald and Beverly Shilliday; brothers Don Shilliday, Jr. and his wife Carol, David Shilliday and his wife Michelle, sister Dawn Ludden and her husband Mike; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends. People were special to Dan, and he was liked and respected by all who knew him. He was a devoted father, loving husband, son, brother and friend who will be terribly missed. He adored his three young boys and could be found at all their activities, including Boy Scouts, basketball, baseball, football, and swim team. He would leave his busy law practice to have lunch with his boys at school. Dan was born May 8, 1965 in Phoenix. He attended St. Vincent de Paul grade school before graduating from Brophy Prep. He went on to graduate from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and cum laude from Tulane Law School in 1991. Dan was an accomplished athlete. In his youth he played baseball, wrestled and ran track. He possessed a sweet jump shot and was an excellent tennis player. He was an avid runner, running a fast pace with an unparalleled glide. Those who ran with him mostly ran behind him. Dan was a partner in the litigation section at Vinson & Elkins. He was licensed in a variety of courts, including the U. S. Supreme Court. Dan was active in many professional organizations and served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. Dan was honored as one of the rising young stars in the Houston legal community. Please visit Danny's guest book through the Houston Chronicle at www.chron.com
