Richard Kapraun
PRINCETON — Richard Francis Kapraun, 92, of Princeton passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017.
Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Benson to Frank V. and Louise Catherine (Meyers) Kapraun, he married Carmella J. Knoblauch Feb. 18, 1950, in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Washburn.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He and his wife, Carmella, farmed in the Rochelle area for many years.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton and a lifelong member of The Company of St. Isadore.
Surviving are three daughters, Jewel (Robert) Sippel of Wauconda, Mary (Cary) Lewis of Elmhurst and Beth (Frank) McKenna of Itasca; six sons, Phillip (Janet) Kapraun of Harvard, David (Sue) Kapraun of Spring Grove, Dennis Kapraun of Naperville, William (Liz) Kapraun of Lake Zurich, Ronald (Laura) Kapraun of Bartlett and John (Ann) Kapraun of LaMoille; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandson; four sisters, Rita Sisko of Woodridge, Elizabeth LoMonaco of Miami, Okla., Mary (Errol) Peterson of Benson and Agnes Gaspardo of Minonk; and one brother, James (Bev) Kapraun of Benson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella; one brother, Wallace; and one sister, Margaret.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with the Rev. Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 27, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Matt Kapraun, Andy Kapraun, Dale Lewis, Nathan Kapraun, Christian Kapraun and Austin McKenna.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Louis School in Princeton and the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
