Robert DeWalt Obituary
PEORIA - Robert (Bob) Neil DeWalt, age 83, of Peoria passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born on August 26, 1933, in Lacon, IL, he was a son to Roy and Carrie DeWalt. He married Virginia Peterson on July 16, 1955. Bob attended Woodruff High School and honorably served in the United States Army. He worked at Jim McComb Chevrolet for many years, and then opened his own dealership, Prospect Auto Mart in Peoria. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Peoria; four children, Debbie (Ted) Gill of Riverside, IL, Yvonne (Rick) Schmudde of Springfield, IL, Neil (Rachel) DeWalt of Dunlap and Dane (Nancy) DeWalt of Peoria; one sister, Christine (Rich) Fleming of Tremont, IL; and one brother, Norman DeWalt of Bradenton, FL; as well as seven grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy and Dale DeWalt; and one sister, Deanne Cooling.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, between the hours of 9 to 11 a.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Military honors will be accorded at 11 a.m., with a short celebration of life service following. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
Memorials in Bob's memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
