HANNA CITY - Robert A. Hoerr, age 84, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of Hanna City and Pekin, Ill., passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Beehive Assisted Living in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
He was born on June 26, 1930, in Pekin, Ill., to Alfred L. and Louise Meyer Hoerr. He married Marilyn Hayes Skinner on Aug. 10, 1984, in Bartonville, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons from his first marriage to Helen Nellos, David (and Mary) Hoerr of Madison, Wis., and Douglas (and Andrea) Hoerr of Mount Horeb, Wis.; one stepson, Scott L. Skinner of Stillwater, Okla.; one granddaughter, Winifred Hoerr of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one sister, Eileen (and Richard) Heggemeier of Peoria, Ill.
One sister, Margaret Hoerr, and one stepdaughter, Susan L. Skinner, preceded him in death.
Robert was a foreman at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1982.
He filled his life with many joyful activities, including family, flying, hunting/fishing, choral singing and travel. To these ends, he chose to join the Illinois Air National Guard, as well as learned to be a private pilot and flew his own aircraft.
His choral memberships included the choir at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Ill., and the choir at Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista, Ariz. While living in Pekin, Ill., he was a member of the Pekin Civic Chorus. Many of the good people he met during these activities remain cherished friends to this day.
His faith was important throughout his life and he was a member of both the Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Ill., and the Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
The family is grateful for the support and love from all their friends and would like to thank Valor Hospice Care and the staff at Beehive Assisted Living for their loving care of Robert these past two years.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Ill., with the Rev. Richard Hanson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Davison-Fulton Funeral Chapel in Bartonville, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Ill., or Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista, Ariz., as well as a charity of the donor's choice.
