morton - Ruth U. Getz, 88, of Morton passed away at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at her home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Dunlap to Dan and Marie (Suchert) Unsicker. She married Henry Getz on May 31, 1943, in Morton.
Surviving are her husband of Morton; her children, Jan, Marsha, Joe and Peter; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Don, Walter, Richard and Glenn; and her sister, Marjorie Moore.
She was preceded in death by five brothers.
Ruth served on the Morton Zoning Board of Appeals, the Morton Library Board, the Morton Community Foundation Board and the board of the Peoria Civic Opera Co. and was active with the local Girl Scouts and local Republican organizations. Ruth was instrumental in the creation of the Bertha Frank Performing Arts Center in Morton.
No services are planned at this time.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
