ASTORIA - Ruth Shaw, age 97, of Astoria, Ill., passed away at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Pekin Manor in Pekin, Ill.
She was born on Aug. 19, 1917, in Schuyler County, Ill., the daughter of Asa and Lelia (Hale) Bartlett. She married Myron Shaw on Sept. 26, 1937, in Rushville, Ill. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1971. She later married Robert Riebling on July 16, 1984, in Lewistown, Ill. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1986.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Stanley (and Lillie) Shaw of Pekin, Judy Gain of Chesterfield, Mo., and Steve (and Kelly) Shaw of Morton, Ill.; and her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
She was a homemaker, seamstress and owner/operator of Shaw Feed and Farm Supply after the death of her husband, Myron.
She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bragging about her grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star 227 of Ipava, Ill., and the Astoria American Legion Auxiliary.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery in Astoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Astoria United Methodist Church or the St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run.
